The Long Meadow Ranch (LMR) mission is to produce and purvey world-class wine and food experiences that are flavorful, safe, healthy and enjoyable. The business has both wine operations (shipped nationally and internationally), as well as cattle and farm operations (serving the Farmstead restaurant on the ranch). About Long Meadow Ranch
In the late 1800s, the majestic LMR property thrived with vineyards, apple orchards, olive groves, hay fields and a goat milk dairy before farming fell dormant during Prohibition. The property became swallowed by the encroaching forest until the Hall family bought it in 1989. The Halls carefully breathed life back into the land, nurturing it to its original glory by cutting back the abandoned olive trees and replanting the vineyards and apple orchards. The Mountain Estate (also known as LMR’s Mayacamas Estate) is nestled in the mountains high above the Rutherford Bench and gives way to a long, sweeping meadow — thus the name Long Meadow Ranch. Today, LMR is a collection of five properties: three in Napa Valley, one in Anderson Valley and one in West Marin.
Challenges
Managing different types of inventory at numerous warehouses and hospitality locations across multiple subsidiaries, LMR could no longer grow the business using QuickBooks — a very ineffective financial and inventory management solution. With eight unique entities, plus eight different charts of accounts, a team member had to log out of one and log into another, and so on. “It was very painful, to say the least,” Brett Pinkin says with a grin. In addition, the data bases were saved locally, opening up data security risks. Large amounts of resources were dedicated to reconciling systems and making sure all transactions were properly reported — which was time consuming and left room for errors. The need to implement an ERP platform that provided accurate costing and reporting to multiple, unique investor groups would become increasingly important in the next phase of growth.
Crafted is cloud based software. other software we looked at required a lot of IT resources in order to manage the system. Crafted was a solution that was able to address all of our needs holistically.

Vermont Information Processing (VIP)
Using VIP requires all distributors to upload data regarding shipments to report their depletions. “Crafted ERP created custom forms so the formatting and report building requires no conversion or manual input to process the information that NetSuite spits out,” explains Quinn Sheridan, supply chain analyst at Long Meadow Ranch Winery. In addition, “Very little input was needed from us up front for custom fields — and how they interact with saved searches and reports,” continues Quinn.
